Wayfare Travels holds an Air Travel Organiser’s Licence (ATOL 10253) granted by the UK Civil Aviation Authority (CAA). ATOL is the UK’s financial protection scheme for air-package holidays and certain flight arrangements. This page explains, in plain English, what that means for you.

What ATOL protects

The air holidays and flights we arrange that are protected by our ATOL come with an ATOL Certificate. It means that if our business fails, or in certain cases a supplier fails, you will not be stranded abroad or lose money you have paid. ATOL protection generally applies to flight-inclusive packages and “Flight-Plus” arrangements that we sell as the organiser.

Your ATOL Certificate

When you buy an ATOL-protected trip from us, you will receive an ATOL Certificate as soon as you pay. Please check it carefully: it sets out what is financially protected, who the protection is with, and what to do if something goes wrong. Keep it safe and take a copy with you when you travel. If you do not receive a Certificate for a booking that should be protected, please tell us straight away.

Flight-only bookings

Not every flight is sold under an ATOL. For some flight-only bookings we act as an agent for the airline or another ATOL holder, and a different form of protection (or the airline’s own arrangements) may apply. We will always make clear, before you pay, whether a particular booking is ATOL protected and provide a Certificate where it is. Where ATOL does not apply, we strongly recommend suitable travel insurance.

What happens if a supplier fails

For ATOL-protected trips, if the organiser fails the scheme is designed to make sure you can complete your trip or, if you have not yet travelled, get a refund. If you are already abroad, arrangements can be made for you to finish your holiday and return home. The CAA administers these arrangements.
