Best time to visit Dubai — and how to find cheap flights from the UK

Dubai is one of the UK's favourite winter-sun escapes — guaranteed sunshine, direct flights from several UK airports, and a mix of beaches, desert and city in one trip. Here's when to go, what it costs, and how to find the best fare.

Best time to visit

The sweet spot is November to March, when daytime temperatures sit around a comfortable 24–30°C and the evenings are warm — ideal for the beach, the desert and outdoor dining.

April and October are pleasant shoulder months with fewer crowds. From June to September it is very hot (often 40°C+), but this is also when hotel prices fall sharply, so it can suit travellers who plan to spend the day by the pool or in the malls.

Getting there from the UK

Dubai (DXB) is roughly a 7-hour direct flight from London, with direct services also from Manchester, Birmingham, Glasgow and other UK airports.

Fares are typically lowest when you book a few weeks to a couple of months ahead and avoid the school holidays and the Christmas/New Year peak. Mid-week departures are often cheaper than weekends.

What to do

Mix the icons with the experiences: the view from the Burj Khalifa, a wander through Dubai Mall and the old Al Fahidi district, an abra ride across Dubai Creek, and an evening desert safari with dinner under the stars.

Families love the waterparks and the beaches at JBR; foodies should look beyond the hotels to the Old Town and Deira for excellent, affordable food.

What it costs

Dubai can be done on most budgets. Off-peak flight deals from the UK regularly start from around £429 return, and there is a huge range of hotels from smart 3-star to ultra-luxury.

You'll save by travelling in shoulder season, using the Metro, and eating where the locals do.
